The City of Gastonia has announced it is partnering with Peel Scooters to launch a new electric scooter pilot program. The Gastonia City Council approved an agreement for the Peel Scooters Pilot Program during its regular meeting on November 19, 2024.

The City of Gastonia and Two Rivers Utilities (TRU) are asking residents and businesses to conserve water after the Catawba–Wateree Drought Management Advisory Group declared a Stage 1 drought for the Catawba–Wateree River Basin due to dry conditions.
