Assistance Chief Brogdon joined the GPD in 2005. Her service includes being Commander of Patrol Division, Commander of the Shift Tactical/Mobile Field Force Unit, and Commander of the Crisis Negotiations Team. A 17-year veteran and a graduate of Pfeiffer University with a Master’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from the University of Illinois. She is a North Carolina certified instructor and a specialized instructor in physical training.
Brogdon speaks fluent Spanish and has served in many positions, including a patrol officer, community coordinator, grant manager, and coordinator for the Gaston County Grant Initiative and as a detective specializing in financial and electronics crimes. Since making sergeant nine years ago, she has been a patrol sergeant, community coordinator sergeant, criminal investigations division sergeant, U-Visa program, Leads On-Line Program, and Victim/Witness Program and assistant commander of the GPD Crisis Negotiations Team. Brogdon oversees the department’s Traffic Unit, Canine Program, SCU unit, and Community Coordinator’s Unit. She’s a recent graduate of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Command College and a Board Member of Gaston Vision 2040.

Assistant Chief Wurster is in charge of Field Services, which includes all uniformed officers in Patrol, the Street Crimes Unit and the Traffic Bureau. Patrol officers provide the department’s first response to police calls for service in the East, West and Central Districts. The Street Crimes Unit addresses problems such as an environment of violence, community disorder or nuisances that persist after numerous calls for police service. The Traffic Bureau handles traffic crash investigations and enforcement.
Assistant Chief Wurster joined GPD in 1999. His service with the GPD includes: being assigned to patrol, assigned to the Traffic Bureau, serving as an ABC Detective, promoted to Patrol Sergeant, assigned as Traffic Sergeant, promoted to Central District Captain, Commander of the Crisis Negotiations Team, and now Assistant Chief of Field Services.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Wilkes University; holds the State of North Carolina’s Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate. In 2004 was trained as a Traffic Crash Reconstructionist, and in 2005 was a graduate of the NCJA Traffic Enforcement and Investigative certificate program. He graduated from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Command College, Carolina Command College- sponsored by the FBI, and the Gaston Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Gaston. He is a North Carolina certified instructor and a specialized driving instructor. He is a current Board Member of the Salvation Army.
