GEAR (Electric Bill Assistance)

The Gastonia Electric Assistance Resource (GEAR) program was designed to offer assistance to very low-income customers to offset the electric rate increase.

The program is full.
 
 
PROGRAM INFORMATION 
 
The program provides the following:
  • Enables customers with very low incomes to manage and afford electricity.
  • Provides a monthly credit of $25 to $35 per month for twelve months for approved applicants.
  • This program is not an emergency or crisis assistance program. Assistance is only available to customers with an established City of Gastonia Electric account who are current on their electric bill; past-due or disconnection situations are not eligible
