As a member of Electricities North Carolina Municipal Power Agency Number 1 (NCMPA1), Gastonia is a Public Power community. Specific rates are offered for residential, commercial and industrial customers.
Gastonia offers water and sewer service to both City residents and through the region as part of our Two Rivers Utilities regional utility.
Garbage service is provided to Gastonia residential single-family homes and includes the pick of your brush and yard waste.
- Garbage Cart: One-time purchase of a 95-gallon roll cart for $60
- Residential Garbage Fee: $14.00 per cart per household, with an additional $6.50 per month for each extra garbage cart
- Excess Trash/Spillover Fee: Varies depending on the excess size
Stormwater
The City's Stormwater Utility maintains the network of public stormwater drains and also offers two different programs to help residents dealing with the effects of increased runoff. These programs vary greatly on solution options, cost, and time frame for completion. Funding for the Utility is provided by the Stormwater Utility fee.
- $3.25 per Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU) (2,650 square feet)
- Residential Customers are charged 1 ERU per month
- Non-Residential Customers are charged per amount of impervious service per month
