The Alliance for Community Enrichment (A.C.E.) Movie-in-a-Box Program is an engagement initiative to encourage Recognized Communities to host outdoor family friendly movie night events in an effort to foster connectedness amongst neighbors. One goal of this program is to provide resources to communities to bring neighbors together, to enhance relationships, and create a foundation that can lead to positive change in neighborhoods. This initiative is designed to address the A.C.E. program’s mission of pursuing the enhancement of the quality of the life of Gastonia citizens by offering resources to foster fun and engaging opportunities for neighbors to gather together.
Through this program, the City provides a kit containing everything a neighborhood would need to host a neighborhood movie night including a screen, projector, Blu-ray player, and speakers. This kit is available for Recognized Communities to borrow at no cost to host their own movie night.
Pairing an outdoor movie with a pot-luck dinner, pot-luck desert, ice-cream social, or pizza for the entire community can be a great way to encourage more neighbors to join in the fun through this program.
If you are interested in reserving the Movie-in-a-Box equipment for a neighborhood event, please contact Tyler Davis, Neighborhood Program Administrator, at Tyler.Davis@gastonianc.gov or (704) 866-6907.
