The Gastonia Fire Department's Life Safety Division is responsible for enforcing the fire code in the City of Gastonia. Whether it is inspecting existing commercial buildings, new construction, or plan reviews it falls under the responsibility of the Fire Marshal's Office. We oversee two different types of permits: operational permits (generally for existing businesses) and construction permits. If you received an operational permit application via email after your fire inspection, look below under the section titled OPERATONAL PERMITS for instructions on how to pay for the permit online. For construction permits and plan review, look directly below for the section titled FIRE DEPARTMENT CONSTRUCTION PERMITS.
