Detectives Ask for Public’s Help Identifying Man Found Deceased on April 4

Gastonia, N.C. - April 18, 2023: Detectives from the Gastonia Police Department (GPD) continue to investigate the death of a male who was found deceased in a creek near Cox Road on April 4.  Today, investigators are releasing information about tattoos found on the man’s body and are asking the public for any information that may help to identify him.  Detectives continue to wait for the results from an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of the man’s death.

On April 4 shortly after 11 a.m., GPD officers responded to Duharts Creek behind the 400 block of Cox Road for the report of a deceased person in the creek.

The decedent is described as a middle-aged white male with the following tattoos written on his arms:

     * “Emilie” written in block lettering

     * “Winter” written in blue with icicles on the top of the letters

     * “Misty” written in individual letters in colored stars

The deceased also has a tattoo of a butterfly on his left ankle and tattoos of a colored frog, a monkey, and a spider on his left leg.
