Two Rivers Utilities is committed to providing our customers with safe, high-quality drinking water. In our effort to do this, the City of Gastonia Council has adopted a Backflow Prevention and Cross Connection Ordinance to ensure the protection of our community’s water system. The Ordinance covers Two Rivers Utility water customers with the following requirements:

  • Commercial and industrial water customers to have an approved backflow prevention assembly installed;
  • Residential water customers with irrigation systems and/or pools are also required to have an approved assembly installed.

Backflow prevention assemblies are required by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency and the State of North Carolina to safeguard water systems and must be tested annually by a Certified Tester.
