GASTONIA, N.C. – August 29, 2025 – City of Gastonia administrative offices will be closed on Monday, September 1st for Labor Day, a holiday for most City of Gastonia employees. Residents should note other services and activities below that will be impacted by the holiday.
Garbage Pickup
Garbage pickup on Monday, September 1, will be delayed until Tuesday, September 2.
- Monday and Tuesday customers will not receive yard waste or excess trash collection on September 1 and 2.
- Residents can use this link to the City of Gastonia Solid Waste Division website for notifications about holiday-related changes to Solid Waste collection.
GoGastonia
GoGastonia will not operate on Monday, September 1 (Labor Day). Our ADA/Paratransit service will also not operate on that day.
Parks & Recreation Labor Day Hours
- Erwin and Lineberger Pools: 12:30 pm-6 pm.
- Session 1: 12:30 pm-3:00 pm
- Session 2: 3:30 pm-6 pm.
- Splash Pads are free to the public and are open 11 am-7 pm.
- Skeet and Trap Range: Open 10 am-4 pm
- Rankin Lake Boat House: 10 am-6 pm office is open for boat rentals.
Schiele Museum of Natural History
- The Schiele Museum of Natural History will be open to the public on Monday, September 1 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Visitors can enjoy museum exhibits, planetarium programs, and a special event, “Cosmic Crops” from 11 AM – 2 PM. Find details using the calendar of events at schielemuseum.org.
