City of Gastonia offices will open on Tuesday, February 3, at 10:00 a.m.
Due to continued hazardous road conditions, GOGastonia will begin operating at 12:00 p.m. Riders should plan for possible delays, as conditions along neighborhood streets may continue to impact service. The Bradley Transit Station will remain closed, and ADA/Paratransit services will not operate.
Solid Waste services will resume on Tuesday, with crews collecting both Monday and Tuesday routes. Normal collection schedules will resume beginning Wednesday.
Parks and Recreation Administration and Athletics offices will open at 10:00 a.m. There will be no programmed events on Tuesday. Parks and Recreation will follow Gaston County Schools’ Gastonia campuses for game schedules.
The following parks will remain closed:
- Martha Rivers Park
- Rankin Lake Park
- Walker E. Reid, III Park
The Schiele Museum will open at 12:00 p.m., and City of Gastonia’s community centers will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The Gastonia City Council meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. and will be held at City Hall (181 S. South St., Gastonia).
The Warming Center at Unity Baptist Church, 482 N. Myrtle School Road, in Gastonia, will return to its regular schedule, opening when temperatures are 32 degrees and below, per the National Weather Service.
Residents are encouraged to use extreme caution while traveling, as temperatures drop well below freezing, roads are expected to refreeze, creating the potential for black ice. Updates will be shared through the City’s website and social media channels.
