Fire Code Mandated Inspections

The Gastonia Fire Marshal's Office performs routine fire inspections of all commercial buildings, hotels, motels, and apartments (common areas only), group homes, family care homes, daycares, and, when requested, foster homes.

The City of Gastonia has adopted the latest edition of the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code. and the appendices.

Fire inspections are currently done by (4) personnel, including our Assistant Fire Marshal, and three Fire Inspectors. The city is broken up into zones, and each inspector is assigned a particular area of the city to perform inspections in.

Currently, we do not charge for regular fire code-mandated inspections with the exception of daycares, adult daycares, group homes, and family care homes. We also conduct foster home inspections (when requested) free of charge.
