New Employee Orientation
New Employee Orientation is held on the first Thursday of the month following your hire date. Orientation welcomes new employees to the City of Gastonia and provides an introduction to our workplace culture, expectations, and resources.
During orientation, you will learn about:
- Health insurance and benefit enrollment
- City policies and procedures
- The City of Gastonia’s Employee Handbook
- Mission, Vision, and Values of the City of Gastonia
- The City departments and services that support our community
What to do BEFORE you come to Orientation
Read through your Employee Benefits Guide that was provided in your New Hire packet. Feel free to write any questions you have in your book, we will be happy to discuss them during the orientation.
What to BRING with you to Orientation
- Your New Hire packet that you received from HR
- If you are covering any dependents on your health benefits, documentation will be needed to add them. Specifics are covered on Orientation Day.
- The SSNs, dates of birth and contact information for anyone you will be listing as a beneficiary on your Pension
- Your valid driver’s license (or other government-issued, non-expired picture ID)
- A pen for completing documents
