Gastonia, N.C. - May 23, 2022: Detectives from the Gastonia Police Department (GPD) have charged Trini Lydell Hollins, age 53, of Charlotte, for the attempted murder of a 30-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman after Hollins shot both victims at a business early yesterday morning.
At approximately 5:38 a.m. on Sunday, May 22, GPD officers responded to a business in the 2500 block of W. Franklin Boulevard for the report of a shooting that just occurred. While responding to the scene, officers were told that one shooting victim was at a gas station on W. Franklin Boulevard and that a second shooting victim was at a convenience store on W. Franklin Boulevard. Fire and Rescue personnel transported the male victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The female victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Hollins was recently fired from the business where the shooting occurred and identified him as the suspect.
Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Hollins charging him with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Yesterday afternoon, Hollins was located in Charlotte by officers from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD). CMPD officers arrested Hollins on the strength of the Gastonia Police Department warrant.
Hollins was transported to the Gaston County Jail where he is being held without bond.
