Detectives Investigate Now Fatal Collision Involving a Motorcycle

Gastonia, North Carolina: February 27, 2023 - Officers from the Gastonia Police Department (GPD) – Traffic Enforcement Bureau continue to investigate a collision involving a motorcycle that occurred on February 23.  The passenger of the motorcycle, identified as 30-year-old Natalie Hubbard of Gastonia, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital on February 24.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on February 23, GPD officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the 800 block of W. Franklin Boulevard for the report of a serious collision involving a motorcycle.

The preliminary investigation has determined that a 2012 Volvo passenger car was traveling west on W. Franklin Boulevard attempting to turn left into the parking lot of 801 W. Franklin Boulevard.  A 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling east on W. Franklin Boulevard approaching S, Highland Street.  For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle and the car collided on W. Franklin Boulevard.

The motorcycle rider, identified as 34-year-old Justin Tadlock of Belmont was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Hubbard was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and succumbed to her injuries at the hospital the next day. 

The driver of the Volvo, a 16-year-old female from Rock Hill, South Carolina was not injured.
