Child Death Investigation

On 11/7/2023 at 10:52 a.m., officers from the Gastonia Police Department responded to 1698 Lowell Bethesda Road in Gastonia, about the cardiac arrest of an unresponsive 21-month-old child. Upon arrival, officers assisted with CPR efforts. While doing so, officers discovered that the child had swallowed unidentified blue pills. The child was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Rhondasha McNair, 24, has been charged with Second-Degree Murder without Regard and Felony Neglect Child Abuse. She’s currently held at the Gaston County Jail with no bond.
