Gastonia Police Department’s New K9 Bloodhound Makes 3 Successful Tracks
January 5, 2024
Gastonia, NC. – Meet “Bo”! Bo is the newest member of the Gastonia Police Department K9 Team and has already had 3 successful tracks in his first few months of service.
Bo rounded out 2023 with his very first “criminal track”, locating 2 strong-arm robbery suspects in late December.
On Thursday 12/28/2023 at 1113 hours, Police were dispatched to the 200 block of N. King St about a robbery of a Door Dash driver. K9 Bo picked up the suspect’s scent and began tracking them. K9 Bo successfully tracked through heavy foot traffic and other distractions to the suspect’s residence. Two of the suspects were located inside the residence along with the stolen property. The subjects were charged with Common Law Robbery (Strong Arm Robbery). The public report case number is 2023-98561 and can be searched at City of Gastonia - Crime/Accident Report (gastonianc.gov)

Other notable tracks include helping to track down and locate an elderly man who was reported missing from Rosewood Nursing Home on 10/4/2023. Bo used a pillowcase to pick up the man’s scent and helped lead officers to the man’s location a few blocks away. He was returned safely.
Bo was also called out in November to the report of a missing special needs child. As in the case above, Bo used the child’s pillowcase to pick up the scent trail. The little boy was located in the neighborhood near 1536 Lavinton Ct. in Gastonia.
