Man Shot and Killed in Gastonia

 

For Immediate Release – March 1, 2024

Gastonia, NC. - Gastonia Police Department Detectives responded to a shooting at 8:43 pm on 2/29/2024 at 722 South Weldon Street in Gastonia.

Detectives say 30-year-old, Darnell Shanquavius Fowler got into a domestic dispute with his girlfriend’s father, 53-year-old, Gerald Lee Humphries Sr.  Both men were armed during the dispute.  During the confrontation, Mr. Humphries was shot and killed. Both men were living in the same residence located at 722 South Weldon.

Mr. Fowler was arrested and booked into the Gaston County Jail charged with a firearms violation.

This case is being reviewed by the Gaston County District Attorney’s Office and remains under investigation this morning.
