Arrest in March 28th Hoffman Rd. Crash

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – April 10, 2025

Gastonia, NC –  The Gastonia Police Department Street Crimes Unit, along with the GPD Traffic Division, arrested 38-year-old Raterrio Titian Sheppard, DOB 5/25/1986, of Gastonia for his involvement in the crash in the 1500 block of Hoffman Road on March 28th, 2025. The arrest occurred at his home in Gastonia last evening.

Mr. Sheppard, who was driving the burgundy Dodge Charger on Hoffman Road, is charged with second degree murder, felony hit and run causing serious injury, engaging in a speed competition, careless and reckless driving, and no operator’s license.

This was a four-car collision.  A white Dodge Challenger being driven by 36-year-old Porscha Mason, struck a Toyota Highlander head-on with three occupants, an adult female driver and two female juveniles.  Mason, the driver of the white Challenger was killed at the scene.  Two occupants of the Highlander have been critically injured including the driver and one of the juvenile females who remain hospitalized. The other juvenile was released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheppard is being held in the Gaston County Jail without bond.
