Gastonia, N.C. - September 27, 2022: Law enforcement agencies in Gaston County, community advocates, and the Gaston County District Attorney’s office have partnered to help make travel for children safer on Gaston County roads.
Under this new car seat diversion program, a driver who receives a traffic ticket for a child passenger safety violation can bring that ticket to the Gastonia Police Department on the third Wednesday of the month between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Once at the police station, a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician will talk to the driver about proper car seat usage and teach the resident how to properly install a car seat.
After completing the training, the driver will receive paperwork that they can take to the District Attorney’s Office to have the initial car seat violation ticket dismissed.
