Gastonia, N.C. - April 1, 2020: Detectives from the Gastonia Police Department (GPD) have charged Camren Bruneau Jean, age 35, of Gastonia, with attempted murder after Jean shot a 53-year-old male yesterday morning.
At approximately 10:23 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, the Gaston County Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1- call reporting that a man had just been shot at the intersection of W. Long Avenue and N. Falls Street. GPD officers along with Fire and Rescue personnel responded and located the victim lying near the intersection. The victim provided officers with a description of the male suspect who shot him and was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A Gastonia Police Department K-9 officer and his partner located the suspect, now identified as Jean, hiding behind a residence near W. Granite Avenue and N. Boyce Street. Jean was taken into custody without incident.
At this time, there is no known relationship between Jean and the victim. Jean was transported to the Gaston County Jail where he is being held without bond.
