The City of Gastonia Arts Committee is working to support artist growth and expression in our City. The committee is working to advance both visual and performing arts in our community for everyone to participate in and enjoy the arts and experience all they have to offer.

- Increase public art throughout the City.
- Provide educational and cultural arts opportunities to citizens.
- Help our civic non-profit arts organizations through small grants.
- Attract more economic dollars and opportunities through arts events.

2023/2024 Grant Applications - Due September 15, 2023
We welcome arts organizations with 501(c)(3) status to apply for an arts grant. An organization with 501(c)(3) status under the United State Internal Revenue Code is one which maintains a permanent office, practice/performance space, or physical address within the municipal boundaries of the City of Gastonia. North Carolina General Statute Section160A-488 refers to “arts” to include the performing arts, visual arts, and literary arts and includes dance, drama, music, painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, crafts, photography, film, video, architecture, design, and literature, when part of a performing, visual or literary arts program.
2023 Christmas Tree Decorating Contest Application - Due October 15, 2023
Christmas in the City is on Sunday, December 3 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Rotary Pavilion and downtown Gastonia. The event features the City of Gastonia marketplace, Keep Gastonia Beautiful tree lighting, and the Gaston County Jaycees Christmas parade.
The City of Gastonia Arts Committee is hosting a Christmas tree decorating contest. On Sunday, December 3, beginning at 12:00 pm, approved organizations may begin decorating their tree, set up near the pavilion. The application is open to businesses and non-profits in Gastonia (must have a Gastonia address.) More information is found in the application, linked below.
