Gastonia Planning Commission

The Planning Commission’s primary objective is to develop and maintain a cooperative, ongoing planning program that benefits the residents of the City of Gastonia, as authorized by the Gastonia Unified Development Ordinance.

The Commission studies the City and surrounding areas; establishes development objectives; and prepares, reviews, and recommends plans, policies, ordinances, and procedures to achieve coordinated and efficient growth. It advises City Council on planning matters, including proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance and Comprehensive Land Use Plan; reviews and approves preliminary subdivision plats; adopts rules of procedure; elects officers; and performs related duties as required by ordinance or directed by City Council.

The Planning Commission meets the first Thursday after the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 181 South Street, Gastonia, North Carolina.
